Adhuc Semper Paratus

The Second Dragoons Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable purposes, in accordance with section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, to provide financial assistance to members of the armed services and their families who are in need of such assistance.
We contribute and raise money for the foundation and distribute the funds to service members and/or their families when individual cases of need are found or brought to our attention. We are primarily associated with the U.S. Army's 2nd Cavalry Regiment due to previous service with the Regiment by the founding members. However, we do consider cases from other U.S. Army units, especially if there is a previous connection with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment or other U.S. Cavalry Regiments.

EEMSDF Contribute to Houston Care Package Drive

The EEMSDF contributed $420 to ship care packages collected by Daniel Farley and friends in Houston, TX. The teens collected care package materials at school over the week of Veteran's Day, then stuffed the collections into approximately 115 shoe boxes (each quite full).

The care packages are headed to C Company, 5-20th Infantry BN, 2d IN Division. C Co is at a remote base in Iraq with no Army amenities.

The efforts of Farley and his friends are proof to the men of 2/20 2ID that we appreciate their work, courage, and sacrifice for our nation.

SSG Brian Freeman Scholarship Fund 2009

The Second Dragoons Foundation is proud to have made another contribution to the SSG Brian Freeman scholarship fund.

SSG Freeman was killed in combat in Iraq with the 3rd ACR. The SSG Freeman scholarship was established by SSG Freeman's family to provide college funding for one student per year who graduates from Freeman's former high school and writes the best essay concerning what our country or military means to them.

SSG Freeman's memory lives on through his family's dedication to this scholarship and we are proud to be associated with this effort.

Lion Fund

While we will continue our traditional efforts of direct aid to cavalrymen and their families, we are now embarking on a new project and are asking for your assistance.

The EEM2DF Awards 4 Partial Scholarships

Inspired by the Freeman scholarship, this year we are awarding 4 partial college scholarships either to soldiers who have served in one of the cavalry regiments or the children or siblings of those who have served. In one case a soldier had promised his sister that he would help her pay for college, and after learning that he was recently killed in action we are offering her financial assistance in his name.

If you would like to apply for the next round of scholarships, see the Scholarship page.
